Holiday Greeting - Celebrate the New Year Your Way

December 30, 2019

If you’re not fond of New Year’s resolutions, then start or adopt new traditions that help get the year off to a positive start. Your new tradition should be something you can repeat each year with family and friends. Here are a few ideas:

• Share love and appreciation. At dinner or brunch, share stories about your favorite events from the previous year. Each person can take a turn telling the others at the table something he or she truly enjoys about them.
• Try some first footing. At midnight, the Scottish begin visiting family and friends with gifts (coins, bread, salt, or liquor). The first person to cross the threshold should carry the gift for good luck for the coming year.1, 2
• Show your gratitude. Write brief notes or send an email to people who had a positive impact on your life in 2019. Who helped you accomplish something important last year? Who was with you at a memorable event? Who made you laugh really hard? Share that special memory with that special person.2

The start of a new year is a wonderful time to reflect on the past and plan for the future. If you’re ready to review your financial plan, please give us a call. We always like to hear from you.

Happy New Year!
